About Bump-it and supported point-of-sale systems
What Bump-it is
Bump-it Kitchen Display Platform is a cloud-based kitchen display system for hospitality venues. Orders rung up on your point of sale appear on screen in the kitchen automatically. It replaces paper dockets and printers.
Runs on iOS, Android and web. A standard iPad suits a coffee station; a 20-inch or 22-inch Android suits a kitchen line. No special hardware is required.
The point of sale is the single source of truth
Every docket comes from your POS through its API. Dockets cannot be created or edited on the bump screen. If something on a docket is wrong, change it in the POS and the change flows through.
Internet is required
Bump-it needs a constant internet connection. If the connection drops:
- dockets already on screen stay exactly where they are
- no new orders appear until the connection is back
- the screen shows a red “Disconnected from server” banner, then a green “Connection established with server” message when it recovers
Two branded versions, different point-of-sale support
The same application is sold under two brands, and they support different POS systems:
| Bump-it | Lightspeed Bump Screen powered by Bump-it | |
|---|---|---|
| Point of sale | Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series) and IMPOS | Lightspeed Restaurant (O-Series) |
| Connecting the POS | Choose your POS, then enter your access keys | Sign in directly with your Lightspeed account |
| Support and billing | Bump-it | Lightspeed |
If a customer is using Lightspeed Bump Screen powered by Bump-it, their support, training and billing go through Lightspeed, not Bump-it. Point them to their Lightspeed contact.
If someone asks whether Bump-it works with a POS not listed above, the answer is that it does not currently — new integrations are assessed on whether the POS API can supply the data Bump-it needs.
